@TeslaRage Early in the game if a player assaults a facility it can activate a Chosen even though the player has not entered any of their territories. If this is the case will the Chosen still appear in the chain of events?

It's possible that you are requiring research/story progression to get the next chain step appear

@HazTru That is a consequence of using Lord Abizi's Officer Training mod; I also use it.
@RustyDios I completed the first active mission in the chain for the Chosen Hunter, but no next step appeared as a covert action the next month. When I checked the information on the Chosen in the game it showed that I had made progress.

i figured it out, i was expecting a mission name with chosen in it , but instead it was at the top of the screen for a raid supply mission chain, almost hidden

it says chosen surveillence at the top of the screen , but the mission just says raid supply convoy...i was looking for something that mentions chosen
i spent half a year waiting on it , and also had to do an insane assassin avenger defense mission even though her fortress is visible xD

i have 2 strongholds visible for months but it says i have to work with the resistance how to get in..but no covert action to do so...it's already 2036 january and it's been like half a year since i unlokced them lol

@TeslaRage I have had an unexpected result. All three Chosen missions for all factions show up. In addition missions from this mod show up; it shows it is the first of five.

Mod Description:
I failed the chain because I failed one of the missions in the chain. What now?
A new chain will be triggered next month. Yea you gotta repeat from the beginning. Have fun!

I'm assuming this is working as intended based on the description, but if you fail the 2nd mission are you supposed to start the chain over from part 1? I guess I was thinking(wishing) it would just take me back to the step before.

Just wanted to do a quick PSA that I will be dropping an update for this mod so you configs might get reset.

@Sab Nope, does not touch that at all. I have seen people go through Chosen defense (including myself) with this mod active and didn't see any issues.

Does this mod affect chosen base defense in any way? experiencing related crashes and trying to figure out which mods are causing it

And no sooner do I post that than I get around to that supply raid that is the 4/5 one. I feel silly now!

What would the 4th mission appear as in Covert Actions? Would it be labeled like the earlier ones, ie Hunt the Chosen (4/5)? This is my 2nd campaign on a modpack including this mod and I've never gotten past 3/5. I've tried the RemoveWaitChosenChain command and verified the ini file has that turned off anyways. What would be the spawn name to force it to show up via a covert action console spawn?

@TeslaRage In my case even when the new month started I did not get the new Chosen line. I use quite a few mods so there might be some kind of interaction. It is impossible with all the mods out for developers like you to catch every possible interaction. I have trimmed many mods to simplify my next run. I removed any mods that add missions or anything to the strategic layer of a similar nature. I hope it will go well. I appreciate all the hard work modders like yourself put into the game.

On first issue - I tried to replicate. I intentionally failed the 4th step of the chain (the mission after the covert action to reveal stronghold), and the chain triggered again next month. Seems fine to me.

On first issue - If you fail the chain, the Chosen stronghold will remain available, I didn't change anything to make it so that the Stronghold is rolled back. Did you fail after the 2nd covert action to reveal the stronghold? I will test again and let you know. If you are desperate to progress, I have highlighted a workaround under "Welp, chain broken and does not work for me. What now?".
On second issue - When you meet the second Chosen, the chain will not trigger immediately. It will trigger at month end.

@TeslaRage I had a campaign using this mod where I failed a mission in the chain to hunt the Chosen. After the failed mission the location of the Chosen stronghold was still on the strategic map but even after two months new missions for the chain did not appear. I also met a second Chosen and no missions to start its chain appeared either.

Yes it does. I did test with that mod.

Oh, okay. Cool beans. So you spawned them like the DLC missions. Dig it. This looks super cool, and I think seems like a more clever way to gate the Chosen missions. Even without plotgate (which I will probably use that option,) it seems a less arbitrary way to hold them back then the mod that requires a minimum rank to do them. Look forward to trying it out. Doing the Elders' work.

All the missions and CAs will not expire. I made sure of that :)

Does the Assault mission after 1 expire? If it is allowed to expire, I assume it will reset the chain, like the above example of failing the mission?

Maybe I should have explained better. Basically, this is how the chain works:

1. Hunt Chosen I - what you are familiar with. Completing this raises influence with the faction and granting you a resistance order slot
2. Assault Mission - appears on geoscape immediately after completion of #1.
3. Hunt Chosen II - from base game except that it will only appear after completing #2. Completing this raises influence again, and revels the stronghold mission on the geoscape.
4. Infil Mission - appears in covert action screen after completing #3
5. Hunt Chosen III - from base game and will appear after completing #4. Completing this CA unlocks the stronghold mission that you can assault as you always have.

I decided with those missions because those are the ones I attempted the least in CI campaign and including these will force me into doing those missions.

This looks really cool. So if I understand this correctly, you will send a squad for Hunt Chosen 1, they will return, an Assault Mission will appear sometime after that.

You will send an infiltration squad for Hunt Chosen 2, which will then be used for the Hack Intel infiltration mission.

The you will send an infiltration squad for Hunt Chosen 3, which unlocks the stronghold.

@Oblivious Naga No change to resistance order slots. Works similar to what it is in base game. The CAs are still there, its just chained together and interweaves with missions now.

Yeah - from testing its pretty challenging early to mid game. You probably want to skip a mission for the month if attempting the mission from this chain.
