No, there shouldn't be a need for compatibility. although it is completely broken at the moment (new Rivals issue with spawning hitboxes from buddies)

The clones don't hurt you in abyss endless, leading to some pretty cool setups (they're especially helpful during explosive enemies sections, but not as helpful during throw enemies into portals sections)

While I love this idea, the only thing I might suggest is making them follow slightly later, since it's pretty much impossible to use any Strong Attacks (or almost any in general, aside specific fast or dash attacks) without getting hit.

I'm honestly surprised someone made this a thing, though. Good job. :3

I hope to see a version of this that actually helps you, rather than hurts you. It'd be an interesting twist.

This is probably my favorite buddy + probably the most broken buddy and my favorite enemies from Mario Galaxy 2
Literally it acts the same way as the original does
But fighting
Sometimes the downside if you're doing a free for all: it kinda does backfire and damage yourself.
Opposite for the team battle or even abyss (kinda OP.)

Oh, this is a Buddy, you can equip buddies from the Character Select Screen using the (+) icon at the bottom right of your player box.
The buddy can spawn shadowy clones of any character, copying their movements and their actions.

As for clones the can't hit you... yes, I'll make a second buddy for that once I have the time.

I agree the original concept might be quite flawed when applied directly into a fighting game... I'll see where this could go

Cute idea, fun to watch on some characters with high move speed naturally, but god damn it's the most infuriating thing when the clones themselves are what kills you and not your opponent.

it would be cool if someone made somthing like this but with badeline. also it would cool if there was another version that didn't hurt you
