even before i figured out how to make the ship go forward, i still won a race bouncing around the track in reverse because its so fast >.<

It goes in reverse when you don't touch the accelerator. This is either a game bug or perhaps the game can't handle some values being negative. It also occurs with other custom ships that can't throttle down.

This should not be a major issue because you always accelerate in this game and any amount of acceleration overrides this behaviour.

I timed all the ships around a standard test course and this one is plenty competitive... with some practice.
