*ahem*
sorry to bugger you twice.
If you *could* add more qualities (By that I mean the item qualities, i.e Basic, Good, Excelent, Masterwork), your magazines could still be worthwhile.
They could either increase the threshold of those qualities if you add more qualities, or completely change up how the system works. Sorta like "magazines for dummies" where if you read a... let's say a gunsmithing magazine, this will now let you craft higher quality weapons. It is kinda hard to talk through comments, so if you are open to more feedback or such, i'd be more than willing to have a chat on steam or even discord. But I hope you know what I am aiming at :p.
The one that you currently have would be the "Very rare ones" that would be found ONLY in wrecks, and the "Nerfed" ones would be the ones that could be bought at outposts. This way, if you want to train your crew, you can do so to hit the a little bit BELOW the MINIMUM requirement for repairing Junctions or Pumps.
And the rare ones could work like the unique weapons that vanilla barotrauma has. Their icon could have a star on them to indicate they are special and super rare. This will at least reward exploring places instead of rushing into the outposts.
I've been thinking about the stacking thing over the weekend and reached the conclusion on removing the ability to grab the magazines by hand.
I want the magazines to be an asset for new crew members or inexperienced on other areas, but as it is being used as a main item (from what I could tell), I will see to the over stacking issue. As for this next update you won't be able to grab it by hand; if it feels wrong or not good enough I'll keep experimenting until I hit the sweet spot. I will also adjust the skill values of the magazines
Yes but there is NO REASON to level them up because you just have the magazines. Sure you are sacrificing inventory space but that doesn't matter in the slightest.
"Oh, I put the magazines in the room/in a crate, just pick them up and repair and then drop them".
These things shouldn't be able to be bought but rather looted from wreckages. Since they are supposed to be rare (lore wise), they should be placed in some sorta special container inside of the wrecks.
Right now the mod is busted.
But if any abuse was to arise I'll see if a patch is in order, for now, I don't think it's very abuse-able
As for the price, mmmh idk, 750 marks is probably too much. A toolbelt (which is basically what you are giving up when you pick up a magazine) is only 35 mks. Giving the fact you must equip it on one of the hands (negating any medium/big arms) or your belt (which is +6 inventory slots for only 35mks), anything over 125 would probably make it not worth the buy. It's supposed to help lower level crew to catch up/give a boost to assistant players at the end of the day. I can increase the price outpost to sell it by around 30% maybe, and see how that plays out
