That should let you pick it up. If you see the wrenches go down it could be, because you're running. Then while using press the reload key to open the build menu and if the menu doesn't pop up after you've selected something. It's normal you just need to press the reload thing twice. When pressed once it deselects the previous item and when pressed a second time it should open the menu.

Oh and uh, sometimes the build kit, doesnt open, and only lets me pick it up, am i picking it up wrong? Im using E

Were you on gm_construct? Because if you mean the save then you need to be on the map and load the save or load it from the main menu by going to the saves section.
