I like this mod, but it overwrites a lot of defs, and that is not best practice. That's likely to cause incompatibility with other mods. I would like to do a "Continued" version of this mod with patching, or I will happily provide you an update if you're still actively modding. Thanks!

This mod defines (or redefines) the CrateBase abstract. Is this something that is ultimately defined in Core? I ask because Rock Crates Revived also defines this abstract, but parents it under ResourceBase instead of BuildingBase and would like to reconcile both mods.

"So to get your stuff, youd have to destroy them, while deconstructing them doesnt give the items." i noticed this too, if i destroy the stuff i get chunks, components and more steel, if i deconstruct them it takes 1 microsecond and drops 2 steel or smth

Considering you can dig steel out of mountains, the amount of steel you get from massive chunks of ancient machinery makes no sense, 1-4 steel from an ancient bed? Sure. 1-4 steel from a massive chunk of broken machine? No, you should get a lot more than that.

What are you guys talking about? the steel yield is perfect. it balances it so that you're not running from map to map stripping steel easily due to the Form Caravan trick.

Besides, from a lore sense, these are "ancient" machines. So maybe, your Pawns can only "extract" a usable amount due to weathering over the years, which actually has a lot of truth too.

1 to 4 steel is kinda low... like "this mod is practically useless" low.

I would recommend raising the steel drop to something like 10 to 18.

so checked the files, when used with ancient demolition, it doesnt drop your loot tables, because your mod changed the "Killed Leavings" list, while Ancient Demolition drops the "Materials" and "Additional Materials" lists. So to get your stuff, youd have to destroy them, while deconstructing them doesnt give the items.

@CV514 -- having some trouble getting your files to load in-game. I swapped out the mod's original files with yours and I've renamed the <patch> object to <defs> in each one, but the game is not loading the content. Do they need to have specific filenames?

To solve possible incompatibilities and issues with load order you should use XML PatchOperations instead of direct files override like it's done right now.

Here, I've made those for you, you should probably use them instead current mod method - not may mods alter said files, but it's inevitably a recipe for a problem if you'll leave them in current state. As a bonus, it should solve load order issues people had previously.

Would like this a bit more if it didn't yield components... previous poster has a good point in that the description of the items does pretty clearly say that they've all already been looted of anything valuable. I'd be happy with silver and gold being rare with no components... at least having this as a config option for the mod would be nice. Appreciate your work on this mod, thank you.

i would accept steel or silver or plasteel but NOT components.
main reason: the description literaly says these things are looted already, there shudn't be any components in them.

but steel, plasteel, silver could be very nice instead.

Weird. Loaded up RimPy and it gives an error stating that Splints and Schisms is a dependency. Moved positions and it briefly went away. May be an issue with RimPy, you think?

Well I can't replicate it because it was on an now deleted old save and for some reason, it only happened there. I guess Steam didn't push the update automatically on it but I can safely say that resubbing fixes the issue
