There's already a fixture that is pretty smooth in the base game (I think). It may have been a mod but either way it works pretty good for smooth roofs, I think it's in the misc section.

Reversed fixtures are a great idea for interior parts. Though in this particular one I find that grooved shape a bit odd, could you maybe make a smooth/plain variant (it could be be used as a dozen other things too)?
