So following up on Unit's comment, it's not even just this map that dynabase is causing problems with, but also maps like Indoor Spaces, Necrophobia, probably some others I missed. I just have no idea *why* it'd be breaking stuff like that lmao. I was having issues starting up some maps, and was lowkey losing my mind trying to figure out what the hell could be causing the problem. I see this comment section, turn off Dynabase, and what do ya know? Problem solved.

Hm. Pretty strange that an animation manager would cause your issue. I'd recommend getting in touch with the developer if you can and see if they can fix the issue.

alright... did some more digging and found that the menu replacement addon isn't the culprit
its this animation manager... its crucial for a emote addon i have so i always have to disable this just to play this map

(also this addon also seems to effect other maps too causing them to crash as well)

Maybe it was due to a faulty Lua execution upon starting Lua scripts. There are a couple Combine soldier ragdolls out of bounds but I don't think that would've caused the issues you had since by default they use the "ragdoll" sequence.

huh... the map actually works now after i deleted "some" addons i barely use... i don't even know what was causing this... but i figured it out i guess.

That's unfortunate. If you can, try to wait for roughly 15-20 minutes in the loading screen to see if anything happens. The game takes a much longer time to initialize and execute Lua autorun code. So chances are that could be the case.

I sadly still have this issue where it doesn't crash anymore but im stuck on the loading screen when it says LUA started! Verifying integrity of files does not fix this

Try disabling all your other addons, restart, and see if they are causing the crash. I just play-tested the map myself and I haven't encountered any issue. You should also make sure the addon isn't corrupted in any way; a popular solution for this would be to verify the game's integrity.

why does this certain map crash when i load in? all of my maps work fine...
Do any addons conflict with this?

You are welcome my friend I'm glad you enjoy my map. Also, for your first time animating in Garry's Mod I'll say I'm pretty impressed. Admittedly it'd be very hard for me to make animations like that. Excellent job on the film!

Unless you are using a cockroach instead of a personal computer, you shouldn't have any issues or delays generating navmesh.

There isn't a navmesh. You would have to build one by entering the command "nav_generate" in the console.

this map is really amazing. it's almost like a cheatcode for creating a moody and beautiful shot. really if you want to try to make a realism video this map does half of the work for you.

@Yeetus_Feetus It is possible for me to make the exterior of Nova Prospekt, though it would rather look repetitive in terms of gameplay and scenery as I would have to match the assets from Half-Life 2 in order to match the details of Nova Prospekt.

Amazing map, absolutely wonderful.
Everything about this is perfect, i mean every single bit.
But...
One thing would be nice if you still update the map
In half life 2, the first portion of nova prospket is the outside area.
Is it possible to make this?
I dont mean the coast part, but the part within the prison with the gunships and turret towers.

np lol, just make sure there's no link overlapping, if you use the nodegraph editor tool on Garry's Mod, whenever two links are overlapping, the line will show up as orange as opposed to green or red

oh and actually one more thing, use 400 max node link distance when you're making the nodegraph, going over this amount might actually confuse the NPCs and make them stop for no reason, i.e. if you play two nodes way too far away from each other, the NPC will stop around halfway

@Ron Right. I placed AI Nodes across areas where NPCs shouldn't navigate to. Again it looks messy since this was one of my first maps I made and had barely any knowledge of AI at the time. My upcoming map, albeit still in development, will have a more neatly drawn nodegraph. I really appreciate your input by the way.

on multiple Valve developer pages, they explain and highlight problems with nodegraphs, such as having either too many nodes or too little, too many makes the AI inefficient, too little makes bigger groups of NPCs clog up, the rule of thumb is to keep the nodegraph moderately populated, but cluster tightly around complex geometry and keep sparse in areas where NPCs shouldn't be

actually, the AI does most of the work for you, you don't need nodes for cover and such, whenever an NPC has to reload or such, they will look for an appropriate spot away from the targets sight without the need for nodes, and about the NPCs getting stuck problem, NPCs have an "anti-stuck" system, this makes them sort of go around objects and other NPCs as if they have a forcefield

@Ron Yeah the AI Node placement had to be dispersed in that format to avoid NPCs from getting stuck. It's also used that way to indicate where NPCs should go realistically. I admit it looks messy but NPCs like Combine Soldiers would be able to enter cover in reasonable areas such as behind a pillar or barricade, again providing that realism.

@tpbrown I just came back from the map to see if I had a case similar to your problem, but I haven't had any audio issues. It is likely something that is occurring on your end. I recommend verifying the game files and seeing if any addons or other stored Garry's Mod files are causing that audio issue.

@Bob I am currently making a map for Source 2, specifically for Half-Life: Alyx. It's designed for VR survival. I'm hoping to release that one soon so that I can return to making good old Source maps again.
