Replaced my mod files with yours.!
I modified your mod a bit, added 3d models for placing them on the ground. Added the FuelAPI dependency so that the jerrycan can be filled with fuel, not just water. Added an example with a localization file. And put in a cosmetic order.

Other than that, great work mate and good thinking.
It is easier to make universal containers. Although the problem is now in scripts and code.
In most cases, even survival you'd never want to drink out of anything that's been used for fuel. Black cans tend to hold diesel and green for petrol. Ones for water tend to be specifically made for this purpose and are usually white/grey or blue so you wanna really be onto of this or at least add a serious consequence for people drinking out of jerrycans used for fuel.
that way, players can still utilise your nice looking cans (and save on weight / bulk), but re-filling and re-fueling would still be the usual vanilla code :)
