For some reason she appeared as a white chess king after I picked the item, while she looked normally on the item pedestal. Could it be caused by conflicts with some other mod?

I don't know why this happens, but with the D!Edith mod she looks like the salt shaker baby. I am guessing this is the issue @majorinconvenience talked about.

Cool and Cute, but MY GOD is she WEAK! She barely deals any damage, the only thing that deals a "Remotely Good" Damage is the Willo's Swarm Attack, and that happens after a lot of time.
