please update this mod to work with bionic dupes

W Mod. I've been searching for a mod that unassigns mess tables and this is the only one that works even though it was last updated in 2022! Even the dedicated mods for that specific task I was searching for are not working despite them being updated more recently.

Apparently it doesn't work with bionic dupes.

I tried to make tables reassignable without reassigning beds, but the beds kept getting reassigned--a big problem when I've got 7 dupes making dream journals.

Awesome mod, but to make it even better - please make it possible to unassign normal beds but keep comfy beds with specific dupes

I could not play without this mod! I currently have 15 dupes and 2 schedules, that would mean 15 beds and 15 mess tables which would take up SO much space!

The space issue is bad enough with a barracks, once you get private rooms? Just ugh.

I'm sure the dupes change the sheets when they are done sleeping right? :-)

hey i'm having issues where the mod dosen't have assient dupes a a bed and then they jsut sleep on the floor

I know this may be late after the change, but I don't appear to be able to assign beds to specific dupes if need be. Am I missing a setting somewhere to configure the mod?

I mainly want this for the mess table part! :-) All my dupes are on the same schedule for now and they don't always eat at the same time during down time. Having to have mess tables for ALL of them is taking up SO much space. (And having assigned tables is honestly just a dumb game mechanic in the first place!)

Idk if I'll ever use it for beds but, we'll see.

This mod is a god send for space saving. In spaced out I typically run 12 dupes split across 3 work times with 4 assigned to each. To be able to have just 4 beds and 4 tables saves so much. But it does become an issue when you get dupes that are scared of the dark and such. If you can't find away to perma set some dupes to beds, maybe instead of editing the default beds, you duplicate each one and make them the 'sharing bed'? Dunno f that would be an easier fix or not. But would really love to be able to assign picky dupes to a bed. I can avoid getting such dupes when I ick them, but unfreezing them you never know, and I already unfroze one that is scared of the dark x.x

Updated with a fix for the "greedy bed ownership" bug. Also should fix the issue that beds are unnecessarily assigned whenever anything that a dupe would be assigned to is changed.

@Romen I just got this weird bug that when your dupes equipping suit at the checkpoint his bed get reassigned immediately after getting out. can you pls help?

I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I know it would be a useful feature.

Is there a way to add a setting to keep a dupe to one bed? I have a couple afraid of the dark, early game they can be a bit... annoying.

The mod still works in early game, so please let me know if you are using medical cots or those new ladder beds. There may be issues that come up late game due to how certain buildings affect bed assignment.

bed sharing stopped working as well for me

I don't understand why you think it's breaking the mod at all. If a dupe takes too long to get to their bed they might not get a full 2 blocks of sleep. Then they next day they might just pass out from exhaustion, which has nothing to do with bed assignment.

Changing the schedules to 3 blocks seems to have fixed it, but I'm confused. Usually they handle 2 blocks of sleep just fine since they sleep till recharged anyway. Why does it break this mod in particular?

Without any additional info that doesn't sound like it's related to this mod at all. Make sure you have enough sleep schedule blocks to give the dupe a chance to get to their bed (at least 3).

I keep having dupes pass out from exhaustion even when they have an assigned bed.

FYI, if anyone is having issues with dupes stealing a bed and not giving it up.. check if there's a triage cot assigned to them. There is a bug or some weird behaviour in the game that makes them ask for a normal bed every frame when they're also assigned to triage cot.

There might be a bug in the game itself, please remain patient because Klei has open bug reports that are relevant to the problem with this mod. It could be fixed by Klei in an update. (I definitely do not want to modify the code that assigns beds)

it doesn't just *lok like* they're still assigned, they are still assigned and actively preventing some pawns from accessing empty beds unless i do it manually, whiich basically renders the bed sharing non-functional. It worked fine up to like 200 cycles but now it just doesn't. please fix this mod somehow.

@jaargo2000, That is far to complicated to implement. I will not disable or modify the game's auto-assign either, that is essential to making this mod work at all, and could break compatibility with mods that add new beds.

@Romen is it possible to instead of unassigning the bed, to assign it to the next dupe to use it per the schedule? That would override the game's auto-assign

I am aware of an issue where the beds still look like they're assigned after dupes wake up. I'm not sure what the right way to fix it is yet. The reason for it is that beds are automatically assigned to a dupe as soon as the game questions whether a dupe has a bed. The unassignment happens for a single frame before the bed is assigned on the next frame.

Tryed it and your mod doesn't have that issue, nice job!

@Rowen no I mean there a mod like this one but the issue with it is that multiple dupe will use the same bed at the same time. Like there will be 8 available bed but all 8 dupes are sleeping in the same bed stacker on top of each other.

Been using this in my main save since installing it and just wanted to come back and say its great - absolutely a must have mod now IMO. The base game should have been this way from the start IMO. Excellent work!

Ok, scratch that, I restarted and they started to clear assignments. Now they are assigning the beds to dupes that aren't in the next shift to sleep

So, this seems to work great for a while, but eventually it stops working. I've got 8 beds and 12 dupes. The beds are auto-assigning but not unasigning. There something I can do to get it working right again?

@ =jF= , There's not much that can be done about that. Dupes will ask for a bed when it's time to go to sleep. They'll take the nearest available bed. This is not a bug. If you want dupes to use a specific bed probably don't use this mod; Or use doors with permissions for only specific dupes.
