I'd love it if someone was to create an Ogre Mercenary Captain Lord that can be recruited alongside the ogres when you get a camp, and have him buff the ogres would feel a lot more thematic I think

Makes sense - they were hired in but have no loyalty to your lord

HOWEVER

Their training and experience still 'boosts' them so you get benefits for keeping them in your army over more traditional units
