The crash is a common thing, another description I've seen says it's anything that changes sounds.xml or items.xml, so a lot of mods. Would it be hard to move the item pedestal to be in the minecartt room instead of after the minecart ride?

I tried a few times to take the minecart with only this mod installed and I wasn't able to replicate the crash. The crashes might be due to another mod that hasn't been updated yet.
What I've seen online it points to the Neko Lost mod being the culprit or similar skin mods, I'd uninstall those for now and check on their mod page for an update.

I agree, you should experience the escape sequence at least once!
This mod is mostly aimed at people who have completed it enough times that it has gotten easy and repetitive for them.
I'm not sure how you would go about conditionally changing a room after you've completed it once, this is only my first mod, but in my opinion it would be easier to just not download the mod until you've done that or to just ignore the item at the beginning and do it normally.

In my personal opinion, the escape sequence should be at least experienced once. If possible I suggest making it so that after you have picked up the 2nd knife piece via the vanilla way it starts showing up in the lobby, also it would be cool if this was made for the first piece also. As it will allow players to have 2 knifes until you have to use one for the alt mom fights
