Uhm, thanks for those incredible big walls of texts, i think they've explained enough to those that were in need to know what the heck was this weapon and where it was used.

AN/M2 refers to the aircraft versions of the both the M1919 and the M2. Since these were meant for planes, they had cut-down receivers to fit inside plane fuselages and increased rate of fire for aerial engagements.
The Stinger variant was the result of some US soldiers in the pacific ripping the guns off crashed planes and making them handheld using an M1 Carbine stock and a BAR bipod and carrying handle.

@mitchellMK04 AN/M2 Stinger is a field modification from AN/M2 M1919 Browning MG, the Aircraft MG variant, not M2 HMG AN/M2 Aircraft MG Variant one (because it too heavy to lift and carry one even if field modification xD), notice by the belt-fed ammunition that use .30-06 Springfield not .50 BMG and RPM in it, M2 HMG AN/M2 variant have low rate of fire then M1919 AN/M2 variant one (M2 AN/M2 have around 750-850 RPM but M1919 AN/M2 have the same RPM as MG42 of 1,200 RPM and can goes up to 1,350 RPM or even 1,500 RPM) basically it's M1919 Aircraft MG variant but heavily have steroids problem

the character is supposed to hold it on the carry handle instead of the bottom cause its bullets eject under the gun instead of the side just pointing it out there :)
