Hey there, I know its been a long time since you've had a post or anything, but im struggling to figure out why the engine is RPS Stuttering. Infinite fuel works fine, fuel tanks not so much

thank you i needed somtihg for my train

Electricity Generation Review
----------
Max power units (when connected straight to generators on startup): 94
Consistent power units (when connected straight to generators when running): 132

Generators used:

Small: 0
Medium: 1
Large: 0

Other notes: Seems to be lacking in power. It may be designed for "easy to install on boats" but i would compare it to a default medium engine. Its good for decoration and the built in cooling systems work well. The automatic gearbox makes it better for boats. Just not as much power. Its also very fuel efficient.

also really like the engine :)

Ive found that the RPM Flutter can be helped by putting some pumps on the exhaust as well as the intake
this lets me take the clutch to about 50% before the flutter begins (at 100% throttle)

Your engines are sweet, very pretty to look at. I was hoping to use one in my next build, but unfortunately it seems you're lacking in a range of mid-sized engines. This was the only one I could fit, after tearing out a lot of the excess blocks that give it its personality. For reference I had a space of something like 1.25x1.75 width/height.

I've since abandoned that project for other reasons, but I thought i'd give this bit of feedback in the hopes that if i come looking again in the future, I might find something that'll fit xD

Heyhey! Where do I connect the pipes at the bottom of the cooling thing?
LieutenantWolf 10 MAR 2022 a las 10:42
i actually meant pumping it into the engine. it worked whenever i had the ship on stilts but once again the rpms violently flutter once i put it in the water
Kahrstrom  [autor] 10 MAR 2022 a las 10:10
Ah, yes, pumping air into the engine room instead of hooking it up directly to the engine can be a bit troublesome sometimes. I usually just hook it up directly but with enough pumps it you can usually fill the engine room :) Glad you got it working!
LieutenantWolf 10 MAR 2022 a las 10:06
*final message I swear* after replacing the wimpy small pumps with 4 large pumps, it works flawlessly.
LieutenantWolf 10 MAR 2022 a las 10:03
It appears to be an air problem. it works perfectly fine whenever i spawn my ship on land and cut a hole in it. i even have three small fluid pumps connected to a port on the outside, but yet it stops working the moment i fill the hole and put it in the water.
LieutenantWolf 9 MAR 2022 a las 18:45
I actually have not added fuel tanks yet. I just kept the display tanks for testing.
Kahrstrom  [autor] 9 MAR 2022 a las 13:51
Hmm, try putting a pump for the fuel if that's what's causing the issues for you. The fuel tank might be too far away and it's not getting enough fuel pressure.
LieutenantWolf 9 MAR 2022 a las 11:48
*It works with infinite fuel, so that narrows it down to a fluid problem.
LieutenantWolf 9 MAR 2022 a las 11:46
for some reason, the rpms flutter violently if i push the throttle more than 0.8%. everything is hooked up, including the fluid ports under the cooling array. the engine works fine if it is on land in the original configuration, but once i put my ship in the water, it instantly forgets how to work. Any ideas?
Kahrstrom  [autor] 6 JUL 2021 a las 12:18
Air is the fluid port on the top. Either you pressurize your engine room (pump air into it with a good pump set-up) or you connect a pipe directly to it. The fuel is the yellow line. Exhaust is above the gearbox. Fluid cooling ports are under the black cooling array.
FlyingGasmask 5 JUL 2021 a las 7:12
Would it be possible to make a diagram showing the cooling, exhaust, intake and fuel lines? there are multiple fluid ports all around and i have no clue where to hook everything up

Thanks for the advice. I got the engines,(there’s 2 on the vessel) to start and even run at high idle, I just can’t get the boat to move like there’s something wrong with the gearbox system. I’ve tried a bunch of things but the boat won’t move or just won’t go fast say like 2mph at max, but the engine is running and not having probs with the boat it looks like.
Kahrstrom  [autor] 12 JUN 2021 a las 3:59
Make sure your engine room is either pressurized, or hook up the air intake directly where the port hole is on the top of the engine. It's not an engine that's meant to power huge vessels forwards at high speed, but it can certainly get the job done if you place a couple of them down on a decently sized vessel. You'll simply have to test your way there.
RockdudeVx 11 JUN 2021 a las 14:51
Is this thing able to operate on large boat? I tryed to hook it up on a larger boat, but it wouldn't run properly. I did all sorts of methods of hooking it up, but it would start in some cases, just wouldn't go go, if you know what i mean. Great engine though, looks cool
Kahrstrom  [autor] 4 JUN 2021 a las 13:36
Everything on the engine is already hooked up as it should be. If you wish to replace something, simply switch the logic node or pipe connection to whatever you want it to go to and set it up the same way - you have an example to go off right there :)
williamtp 2 JUN 2021 a las 10:37
How can I hook things up?
Kahrstrom  [autor] 10 MAY 2021 a las 12:24
I did think about putting wheels on my largest engine, the KM6500... Six 5x5 cylinders should be plenty to drive with :P
The RRT Commander 10 MAY 2021 a las 12:22
That just gave me an Idea to try to replace a car's engine with this one-
Kahrstrom  [autor] 10 MAY 2021 a las 7:36
Interesting to hear that it found an application outside the marine environment it was created for too!
The RRT Commander 9 MAY 2021 a las 14:40
I love this, I put it on an empty train cart, hooked it up to the back wheel, and this is going even faster than my 1st attempt to make a custom train. ∞/10
Kahrstrom  [autor] 5 MAY 2021 a las 10:58
Thanks! I'm actually working on two large generators based on the KM4340 and KM6360. I'll also make some smaller generators, perhaps some based on this very engine, the I-20V100/A. I find it very practical myself to have some nice engines that I can just pop into my creations.
MKS 5 MAY 2021 a las 10:42
Very nice looking engines, Would be awesome with a series of Diesel Generators. Like Catepillar, Wärtsilä or something for Diesel-electric vessels. Large generators for main propulsion and backup generators. Keep up the good work
