yeah, the AI becomes really bland when this mod is used, always very generic because they always end up picking one or the other major ethics. be great if they can't use it.

How can I prevent it from being used by AI?

if you use this mod, it seems vessels you released might be Gestalt empire even if you are not.

Tried using this with Ethics and Civics Classic (as well as bug branch) but it doesn't add an additional ethics points.

the gestalt civilizations are tend to chose non-gestalt government and thus cause bugs.

This mod has a issue with resuming save games, and is broken for me.
just tested with only this mod and no DLC and fresh game saved backed out, and restarted. Crash after 2 in game days. Can anyone else replicate that too?

@Ralph Shepard The reason why the additional ethic is useful, at least for me, is because I have trait mods that lock certain traits behind ethics in the creation screen. If I use this, and say, want an Authoritarian-only trait for my Hive Mind, I can do that by enabling the additional ethic. It doesn't disrupt gameplay, it just is a QOL for modded gameplay, at least for me.

Is there a way to change the gestalt conciousness price to 7? Giving gestalts additional ethics makes little to no sense. Or maybe you could make a second mod.

Fixed issue with pre-built races disappearing from new game screen

Unfortunately, this appears to be broken as when starting a game with this mod enabled (it worked perfectly up until today) all prebuilt races have disappeared from the new game selection screen.

The votes [www.strawpoll.me] overwhelmingly favor allowing gestalt consciousness to also pick one or two ethics. Next update will make that change.

it destroyed our game, my empire change civics to blank spiritualists in multiplayer, so decision is strange and it was really fun to play xenofile machines with materialistic outlook on life)

I've changed back gestalt pionts, cause it broke whole empires in our game, hope you will do same later

Admittedly, I enjoyed playing a Hivemind with a couple other ethics, too.

Problem with making the Gestalt Consciousness the full 7 points is that they are drastically weaker that way than an Opponent Empire that has all seven points to spend. Plus, it allows for a nice spot of diversification if you can add diverse ethics to Gestalt Empires, because it changes the way you play.

That was not working as intended. The cost of the gestalt consciousness ethic has been changed to seven as well, so that gestalt remains a mutually exclusive decision with the rest of the ethics.

If someone seconds the opinion that a larger number of ethics should allow for at least one or two ethics, then I'll start a poll to see how much of the audience would prefer that option.

When you say you fixed the price issue with the Gestalt Consciousness Ethic, do you mean that those simply do not get the full 7 points? Because you can no longer choose other things on creation.

@CursedAuroran, Revolutions: Ethics and Civics, Ethics and Civics classic -- and probably all other mods that make changes to the ethics system -- over-rides the contents of the vanilla file 00_ethics.txt

That also includes the bit that says how much the gestalt consciousness ethic costs. So put this mod after that mod.

@AngleWyrm I think they meant setting the gestalt consciousness ethic to 7, so you can't have a hivemind with ethics.

You've forgotten to set the hivemind choice up to 7 cost.

I really like the idea and function of the mod would recommend.
