I'm going to need to see a screen shot or a better description as to what is weird... The mod is just a flat card you need to position and scale over any of the other details you have in the layout. Just be sure it sits off the surface slightly, as otherwise it will cause z-fighting, which is inherent to any 3D application and not specific to this mod.
