We didn't make a WW1 collection in the end that's the thing. We decided it wasn't worth it to split the mod just for a few weapons, as it'd be too much effort.
The WW2 collection since then (around 2020-2021) also includes WW1 weapons without issues, as most were also kept. There's only discrepancies on weapons such as this (or the prototypes, like the Clair pistol and Hellriegel), and as such we think it's better to just keep it WW2.

If you want a lore explanation, in the world of the WW2 collection, the only difference with real life is that some prototypes were either adopted, or survived the scrapping of their "brothers" miraculously. Eventually, the German government would open caches and issue them to the Volkssturm.

@peanut i mean you're right, American Chauchats was only used in WW1. They were pretty much unreliable and nobody would even retain it with it's reliability issues in WW2 and yet this weapon gets shoved into ONLY WW2 Collection instead of only WW1 Collection for whatever reason lol

From what i heard French gunners sometimes loaded 16 to 18 rounds on Chauchat magazines due to the weakness of the thing, this one has 20 since i didn't feel that it'd make much sense to make "all" chauchats be loaded like that

It's just a remake, we remake old weapons from time to time and have been doing that since the beginning
