- Change a number.
- Save the file.
- Export to .vpk.
- Move .vpk to addons folder.
- Open addon list (takes a while since I'm subscribed to lots of addons).
- Uncheck Xbox HUD.
- Close addon list (again, takes a while).
- Open addon list.
- Check Xbox HUD.
- Close addon list.
- Join game.
- Play until I can see the HUD element I'm adjusting.
- Take a screenshot.
- Leave game.
- Go to screenshot folder and open the screenshot.
- Zoom in and compare the screenshot against blurry screenshots of Xbox 360 footage I got from YouTube.
- Go back to HUD file.
- Change a number.
Even worse, I realized that the spacing on Xbox? It's not consistent. There are base spacing values that are determined by the display you're using, and then any further user settings are relative to that. Which means the same HUD element on two different videos may be in very different positions. I had to decide whether or not I'd go back and change the original spacing values for the HUD (I still haven't decided).
I will finish this one day. Just... not soon. I simply don't have the time or mental fortitude to sit down for 20 hours and finish everything right now. It might take a few months, it might take a few years. But it'll happen.

You lose all hud elements for health + non weapon items
i really missed playing it on xbox
The scripts simply tell the game to always use full-size HUD icons in the weapon's TextureData section so that the D-pad icons aren't blurry (as seen in the gallery's first image). Normally, when joining your first game, the game reads the TextureData section while loading before it validates the script. By the time it realizes the script is modified and throws it out, the HUD has already loaded and cached the icons for the rest of your session.
This of course has the side effect of occasionally throwing random consistency errors (like a lot of model/texture replacements sometimes do), but it's definitely worth it for those crispy full-size icons.
