I'm pretty sure that the research project is cheap and early in the tech tree.
It requires no electricity, costs only components, can be made on a crafting spot, they don't require a lot of work, and they're semi-adequate.

I've tested them. 10 or more guys firing the make-shift assault rifles can really pack a punch.
Given that the mod Tsar Armory is not yet updated, which was my go-to for early, fairly cheap, reasonably decent firearms to craft, I'll use these and be grateful to have them.

With a makeshift rifle or more, you can tear some proper weapons from the cold, dead hands of pirates sent to raid you, and upgrade your firepower.

The makeshift weapons are just one stepping stone on the road to survival.

the costs of the weapons are bit too high for what they offer, havent crafted any yet after several games, they should only cost 1 component or even just steel, they are supposed to be terrible starting weapons that you build in the first hours of a playthrough yet I always ignore them and rush to bolt actions as bows are good enough till then

For those of you with CE woes, Yayos combat 3 is much more mod compatible and less restrictive. Its different (simpler) than CE but can still scratch that itch without excluding all the cool mods

I'm pretty sure the pistol is the Semi-Automatic Pistol actually.
Also, the HLMG wasn't in Rust yet when this mod was made.

@Kriegs - yeah its a CE issue. I had the same thing. CE have a patch for it in the folder, maybe its not applying properly

Hi. At my current save I encounter some issues while loading maps from caravans and need to restart game. This time I have looked into player.log Rimworld file, it seems like there are issues with loading some VWE objects. Is it possible that it is strictly VWE related or actually caused by something else?

Hoping to see Combat Extended compatibility on this soon. Maybe have the ability to create cheap scrap ammo for these guns which have less stats but are easier to make with basic materials and simple research?

I solved the issue on my own. I hard rebooted my game and changed the load order. Sorry I did not post the logs before. I will in the future.

I just wanted to let you guys know I encountered an error where the pawn with the weapon equipped will be unable to fire it. They spin around in place as if they cannot target the enemy pawn.
