The first car after the tender clips into the rear of the tender, and there is a gap between tender and locomotive.

Speaking of Thomas the tank engine ( of wich I am a huge fan ! ) ... the tender of the engine is looking so much like Gordon's tender !!! It even haves a number 4 !

Not having coal as fuel isn't a problem, there were plenty of steam engines converted to oil firing systems after WW2.
