Yeah, it really does. Its just a shame that edges get way too fuzzy when there is fog on the map. I settled for just your mod, though i might re-enable Vamp Fog again :boggart:

I was thinking about it but I've been busy at work. Chaos will be a little more complicated with the extra models it ads for jagged rocks and lava and I haven't even looked into what's needed to adjust those.

This mod is fantastic, one of those things I didn't know I wanted until I had it. And the vegetation overhaul you recommended, Beautiful! My game is beautiful now!

Is there any chance you could do this for Chaos corruption?

There isn't an "untainted" (or skaven) corruption texture, that just shows the base map textures in the absence of chaos or vampire corruption.

I can't, and I don't know if that is even possible. I'd love to be able to do more but all I've learned to do is replace what's already in the game, not add new effects.

@fan_of_Daniil_Andreev Wow, thanks for reminding me how old I am! Lol.

@FranzKarlGeorg Yep, they work fine together. Only thing I noticed is some ugly artifacts with the transition when a high chaos region starts turning into a high vampire region. Although I'm not sure if that's an issue with the frozen chaos mod or mine as they both seem to be fine otherwise. Maybe a base game problem too and only noticeable with two mods running. The good news is that it's usually cleared up within a couple turns.

Should be compatible with anything that doesn't also edit the corruption textures, I use it with a ton of mods myself. It's really a very simple texture replacement, no scripts, no data files, just some dds files.

Shouldn't do anything to FPS by itself, it's a few textures that are the exact size of the of the originals.

You can probably make something similar fairly easily if you're already working on a mod. I'll let you in on a dirty little secret, I just took the chaos corruption, re-colored (ok, ok, I just applied the sepia tone filter) it to look like dirt and only used to first two of four levels (mostly transparent except for the cracks) :steamhappy:

You could probably so something similar but use the third chaos level dds file in place of the fourth one here. Or maybe keep the sames files I used for the transparency and add some color.

I'm making a Sartosa overhaul that's more focused on the human-rooted nature of Sartosa, but I still plan for it to be a Vampire faction, so this mod is going to be practically required playing for them!

My criticism here is that it's not too obvious that the corruption exists. I mean it is if you're looking, but I think the reason why it was so overdone before is because they want you to be able to instantly identify it without having to play any "spot the difference" game. When a map gets big, and particularly when you're used to seeing the same parts of it over and over, your eyes gloss over and don't notice certain differences passively. CA designed it to be abundantly clear on purpose. They just went waaay past their mark.

It's always bothered me too so I finally decided I had enough.

I figured it's probably not exactly what everybody wants but then, I'm not even sure that possible. I always envisioned something more like land slowly getting the life sucked out of it rather than some total transformation into that... whatever it was before.

The severity of normal vampire corruption's appearance has always bothered me, so I'm very happy you made this!

In my own opinion, you pushed it back it a little too far with this mod from where I'd like it, but beggar's can't be choosers.
