I just got 20th place globally with a score of 6972 (top 4%) and wanted to share advice for anyone aiming high.
No complaints about the map, it’s actually the first custom one I’ve played after finishing all challenges. Yours looked the coolest.
Only lines 3, 5, 6, and 7 can use super fast trains, so early to mid game I made two big loops, kept grabbing bridges/tunnels, and got 2 fast trains until I had about 4. After that I always picked regular trains and carriages. Once I had a fourth line, I used it to connect main stations to special ones, then stacked regular trains and cars.
Watch out: as the map stretches, new square stations spawn even if you haven’t expanded, and the game counts them. Be sure to connect as soon as you see them.
The map is almost the same as the real city. Express and CRH line is added into the map, making it interesting and creative. Fantastic!
