@Paradox they have their own research, but its after advanced fabrication, they require 3-4 advanced components and a lot of plasteel, but I think they can be bought.

Are these craftable or quest/trading/etc only?

@Wi-Fi Mero, These weapons use a small Ionic power-cell to funnel Ions to a solid shape that can be used as a sword blade or a shield to block from bullets. The reason why there is no Ionic ranged weapon is that because Ions dissipate and lose their shape without artificial gravity or a power cell present, making it impossible to turn it into something resembling a bullet. They come from a militaristic glitter-world inventor group, but later become typical in rebel groups and small military armies. Thank you for asking!

What is the lore behind the Ion weapons? Where do they come from? How do they work? Why are there only melee weapons and shields?
