doesnt work for me, even checked it on characters who were able to make a cadet branch and there wasnt any change and yes it was enabled on the highest

The AI ruler in question is a very distantly related dynasty member. The game doesn't show any relationship (ie not cousin, etc). There were two AI kingdoms of my dynasty, and one finally decided to create a cadet branch, while the other one fell apart. I suppose it could be working as designed, it's just the AI took a long time to do it.

@kgptzac were they directly related (child, parent, grandparent)? By default the game prevents ai directly related to a player from forming cadet branches in order to prevent them from sniping the the position of house head from you. I'll think about how to rebalance this, as now if you are a vassal in your fathers kingdom, your father will indeed not form a cadet branch, but you are not able to do so yourself anyway.

I changed the compatible version to 1.3.*, so now there should not be a warning anymore in the new update. For now there are no other changes, but I'm working on some updates.

Also it seems only my dynasty's independent kings are not doing it for some reason. I see AI dynasties making cadet branches normally.

Ok I think something's not working right. I've had settings on "Significantly Harder" and I'm seeing AI dynasty members who could form cadet branch (verified by switch ruler) never does so.

I have a suggestion: split the option into three. One covers title rank (Duchy or King/Emperor), one covers fame level, and the last covers whether needs to be independent.

Yeah that's what I thought too. I'm currently working on a mod that would let you customize your house CoA, but can't see any way to make patterns other than full or quartered.

Yes it is compatible with the More Game Rules (MGR) mod, if you put this mod later in the mod order. All the other game rules will work the same, and only the cadet branch behavior is overridden.

(I initially added a compatibility message in the mod to override the MGR cadet branch game rule and let players know that it is overridden by this mod (as that game rule now does nothing), but that didn't work out if MGR was not installed. I couldn't figure out a way to conditionally override or remove game rules, so I reverted it again.)

I legitimately had 129 Cadet Branches in my achievement run to play until the end date.

Yeah, that is the main intent, so you end up with more 'notable' houses and not hundreds of small houses in your dynasty.
