It's only doing one unit per processor; how do I fix this?

When the processor is built, you just have to click on it, a circle showing its range will appear, you can then click on a building to connect it.

Awesome. Now I just need to figure out how to designate a building to collect from...I'm such a noob

If I recall correctly, it's for each unit TYPE, so one processor should be able to control multiple units of the same type

You mentioned using multiple processors for multiple units. I'm completely new to Mindustry logic; is this saying that one processor can only handle one unit or one unit type ?

@vinster7 Nop, just output your silicon to a chest, and bind this chest to the processor, not the smelter

Is there an easy way to change the slot? For silicon smelters, the output happens to be the third slot (not sure if this is every time). It just ends up delivering sand to the core.

The first version of my script did so, but it was very inefficient, logic processors are too slow to control multiple units this way smoothly. The best solution is to use multiple logic processors, one per unit.

Is it possible to set it up for multiple flares/units?

Also great. You can basically set up almost any factory in seconds without needing belts.
