You know... If you can get the 1x1 deco version to work, see if you can toss a recycling bin function on it instead of trash (I already have a sound/smell blocking 1x1 broom closet + trash room and this would compliment it nicely. Would be ideal for placing on the other side of elevators.

Nice. I'll keep an eye out for the 1x1 version as this one can be a bit limited due to taking up a small restaurant slot (sometimes I need to build WAY more than 5 at a time).

As a side note, I'm still planning to make a set of small 1x1 noise/smell blocking entities, which will be kind of like deco spacers... for those times when you end up with an extra empty tile but don't know what to do with it. I started with a water cooler (I tried adding the vending code line to that one too)... but happy to take suggestions.

Interestingly, it looks like the game creators had originally planned to have multiple versions of vending machines: amenity-vending-soda amenity-vending-drinks amenity-vending-smokes amenity-vending-candy

Anyhow, I suspect that the code that's needed might be:

vending {
maxdistance { value 50 }
}

I've added it to this entity (but not the one without the trash bin). If you find that it does the trick, I can add it to the other self service lounge as well.

The Vending Machine code starts around line 20217 in Entities. My guess is it's either the "snacks" tag or one of the various "scenario" tags.

I'm not exactly sure what code these units need (what code satisfies the vending machine requirement), but I can look into this.

Would it be possible to code it to also fulfill the Vending Machines function that some units require?

For this mod, the reduction amount is set at "reduce -0.8," but I'm not certain exactly how a higher / lower value affects the radius. It's been a while since I worked on it, but I think I found that increasing the amount didn't actually seem to really increase the range? Perhaps there's some kind of hard limit baked into the game itself.

I'd thought I could maybe make some 1x1 noise/smell blocking decos at some point as fillers you could sprinkle throughout the tower. But I haven't had time lately...

It's a good mod. I just wish it had a larger blocking range. I get so frustrated with trying to balance everything out.

It is only trash because there is actually no way to have a single room do both trash and recycling in the game. I could have chosen recycling instead, but I figured that trash is a more common need (especially in early game), and the standard recycling room is just one unit wide, whereas trash is two.

As it stands, I did not code in the boost that common area provides, though I think it's actually quite minor? The blocking of noise / smells probably has a larger impact on resident happiness than the actual common room boost... but I could probably add that in...

I did awhile back almost finish making one tile matching trash and recycling rooms but didn't think there was probably much demand. It just always bothered my how recycling was one tile wide and trash is two.

Couple questions: Is it only trash, or recycling as well? Does it act as a common area or is that just an aesthetic choice? ty
