I tested out this map with HL2DM unmounted, Yes this does need Deathmatch, otherwise the textures are the pink and black checkers we all know and love.

@Wintryyapper(Teto) Fancy seeing you here,pal. HL2 DM is basicly counter strike deathmatch only set in the HL universe and with HL2 guns

i dont get how HL2:DM is different from half life 2 because they use the same textures and stuff only thing different is the weapons

I've seen some Deathmatch maps not even work without the actual game itself (even though HL2 content is built in) Just assumed so, Sorry.

Why does this require HL2 DM? It contains content from Half-Life 2, which is already built into Garry's Mod, is it not?
