Unsub the model while running SFM,
let it clear SFM,
Resub the model, if presented with a popup asking to replace materials or textures, select Yes To ALL (or you may end up in this same situation where the model doesn't work.) This is a known bug downloading workshop models.
When the download process reports all files downloaded, try to spawn a new model, in the Browser,
click RESCAN so SFM will find the model (and even after that, you may have to close and reopen SFM for it to work.)
Change the head skin to Skin 4 (Red Zombie)
Add an overrride materials.
Send the model to the element viewer
Expand the Materials and go to eyeball_invun material
Expand that and add a new STRING attribrute
Name it $basetexture (now your're going to have to find a material that is pure black (effects\animatedsheen\animatedsheen0.vmt should do.) and enter that as the base texture
now go to the spy_head_red_zombie material
Expand that and add a new STRING attribrute
Name it $basetexture (now your're going to have to find a material that is pure black (effects\animatedsheen\animatedsheen0.vmt should do.) and enter that as the base texture

This should work for you
Add an Overide Materials,
Show the model in the element Viewer
Expand the materials
Expand the Spy_Head_Red material
Right click on it and select add Attribute
Select Color and name it $color
Move the color swatch to black (bottom right corner).
It is skin 24 and 25 with the mask on...
