If you want to rework it, by all means, turn it into something useful. I'll still have the original design to work with in another save file... ^_^

But I see your point, yeah... I'll rework it myself anyway and see whatever else I can do to the thing. :D

if you want to go with that style, i'd suggest making it symmetrical so the bridge or some other extension exists on the opposite side as well. personally i don't like round, tube like designs very much so if you wanted me to rework it id probably give you a entirely different ship. however, i can point you to one good source of inspiration for such a shape - the TEC rebel titan from sins of a solar empire http://media.desura.com/images/members/1/535/534154/TechRebelTitan2.jpg

This is the ship in question. Buuut I don't like the "command" bridge along the top. That and the weapons might need to be a bit more spaced out, if not removed entirely altogether and repositioned~ If you want to rework it, by all means, I'm still trying to set up the conveyor systems within the ship's hold too, so that's still a no-go at the moment. VERY WIP at the moment...

thanks, though in reference to meteor defense i had actually designed the dragon for that one, not the jormangundr. never tried that one for it, though. glad you like the design, it was very much inspired by German U-boats

I'd like to state that the Dragon is exceptionally capable for its given role. Just as a test, I set one up in a level with the meteor showers set to Armageddon and it was only hit once after about an hour of holding off the entire shower.

So given infinite ammunition, the Dragon could theoretically protect an entire station from an endless rain of meteors. Bar-none, that's the one ship I'd be most scared to come across in a scout fighter or any fighter class vessel in general.

Also, my favorite design by far. Probably because it looks a little like the Hiigaran Destroyer. :D

Nice new destroyer. In my opinion, you did a good job in making it look like a pirate hunter. In fact, i like your ships more when tey are not Amarr-inspired.

pretty soon yes, been planning one the last few days. can't guarantee it will still be a destroyer class by the time i am done, though. these things have a way of not being the size i planned them to be lol

Thinking about it, it would work better on a corvette or maybe a frigate. My idea is make the base ship, and at the very front or somewhere, you make a little really small ship with windows and maybe a beacon to call for help after escaping, and you attach it to the main ship with blocks, and then you just delete the blocks holding it on (probably just a couple passage blocks or something holding it on) and fly off.

Dark, I have actually thought of it, and you COULD make the seperation idea, but instead of seperating half the ship, maybe you make an extra bit somewhere (like having a small ''ship'' underneath with only about 2 passages connecting it as the entrance), or building it in the very front where that area has no other use other than to either escape or function as a disposable ram (ram and de-tach).

Maybe make it a protrusion on the underside (not many people tend to attack from the underside) maybe?

not a bad idea. i may use it in a cargo ship, since it would be useful to separate from exploding fuel or other cargo. but i dont think i would want something that vulnerable in something meant for battle.

keep trying for your own ships though. we all have to start somewhere

I have an idea for a ship, if you'd like to use it, feel free. It's a big ship, maybe cruiser-sized, and it has a special area, where only about 1-3 blocks are holding it together, it has a bridge, but when the ship is almost dead, you can basically get all of the crew into the front half, delete that block, sit in the seat and fly off. Essentially a copy+paste escape pod the size of a cruiser. Think like star trek's enterprise-D saucer seperation. But you have to make the blocks not vulnerable somehow. I am terrible at making ships, I struggle to make even a fighter, so I give the idea to you.

i tested it some more and it seems that it only works at short range and even then it's very picky about the angles and what you are shooting at. it seems that the short rendering distances may be ruining gravity cannon effectiveness. other people have had the same issue with their gravity cannon designs so it's not my destroyer but a problem with the game itself. i have even seen the projectiles destroy components or rip apart interior armor while having never pierced the outermost layer... as i said, this is something we simply have to hope and wait for the devs to fix

I am using the ammo provided, I have downward gravity generator off now, and it's still not denting one layer of heavy armour.

...also make sure that you are using the ammo provided in the small cargo containers above, or something with around the same weight and density. and no, no assembly is required

the cannon works, i have pierced through at least 14 layers of light armor and about 9 layers of heavy armor with it. first make sure that you turn off the 1 downward gravity generator before firing because that will affect your damage. the tests i have run were against just simple cube targets. however, any time a mixture of armors is involved it gets very glitchy and it's just a problem we are going to have to wait for the devs to fix. i did all i could to make it effective but the system is not as reliable as it once was

I tested, and the gravity cannon is faulty. It can't even DENT one layer of light armour, i've tested and tested and i'm testing right now.

Well, now no longer are my workshop items of yours in order from size. But anyways, nice. Though, I did notice, that there were some ships, in the military division, that aren't seperate. I can't run the military division, if I did I assume it would be so laggy it would just be frozen. I will try this ship out now.

Edit: Just noticed on the diagram, gravity accelerator cannon? Please tell me that I can copy+paste that without assembly.
