Well, the standard game has a feature where if you start a new game after dying, all your buildings remain yours, and your stuff in containers in your buildings remain yours. So there is a built-in inheritance system.

Heh, but I'm not sure it's possible to have a character join a squad when there are no characters. I have limited experience playing around with the death cam.
