I suppose asking for compatibility with the Cadillac Gage Commando would be a bit much?

@Lunchbox3212 brushes are common in tool sheds, storage units, etc. Spray gun probably has the same spawn but higher rarity, so far I found only 1 in McCoy Logging

Did you read the Autostyle magazines? The game won't let you sand the car unless you read the Vol 1 Autostyle magazine. I had the same issue until I realized I had totally skipped that part.

Hey, i dont know if im late or i missed something in the threads, but i seem to be having the problem of not being able to sand my vehicles as the option is not there. (Car is a Volkswagen T1 van from the motorious zone, which to my understanding is compatible with the mod). Anyone found a solution or something? Thanks

@Raven: It doesn't. "Unskinned" vehicles only -- it only works vanilla-style flat coloured cars that don't use a skin index for the vehicle.
@newMania: No. It is not MP synchronised.
@TootieBoop: That depends on the mod, but almost certainly no -- almost all mods I can think of use skinned shells rather than tints.

@matteokmp: No. Build 41 only.
@Spidr: No. Modded cars are not supported implicitly, and must be explicitly enabled with a Lua script.
@Da Gundam Boy: No. KI5's vehicles are skinned and bypass the vanilla tinting system. If you open up the Workshop folder for a given mod, you can check if it will be at least partway compatible by seeing if the "Shell" textures have transparent parts. If any significant part of the texture is solid, you would have to cut out part of the texture while somehow retaining the object detail. I started an effort way back in 2023 to convert major car mods but the amount of work was absurd. After three hours got the Jeep Wrangler from Autotsar Tuning Atelier about 90% done, I realised that converting other people's mods would be a full time job.

can't get the option to sand vehicle to show up like in the screenshot, but it comes up on my friend's truck... did I do something wrong? Do I sand first then remove the windows? Does it just not work on police cars?

Yeah, I don't think the animated one is supported. No option for sanding vehicles, unfortunately. Even though I have all the necessary items.

doesn't work. The paint just doesnt stay on. When I leave the proximity of the vehicle i painted, it just returns back to the default color.

Can't find the option to sand the car... sadly. No pink party bus for me

I went through ALL 500 steps of preperation.
Yes i did read the magaztines.
Yes i did Wash the car.
Yes i did uninstall all windows.
Yes i did find safety goggles and dust mask and i am wearing them.
Yes i did get a wire brush and even equipped it.
Yes i did sacrifice my first born child to please the dark lord.
And i even have primer and a spraycan which i should not need yet.

I looked in every menu (radial menu, right click menu, "under the hood menu") and i can't find a way to sand the car!

Also, while we don't need any mechanical skill to clean, sand, prime, and paint our car. We DO need mechanical skill if we want to uninstall(and more importantly, REinstall) the windows, without likely breaking them.

What are the best spots to find the magazine's we need? Vol1 is weirdly rare.

I'm curious, I got a mail van (vanilla one) and I want to paint it black, would it work at all or are unique vehicles, like police, ambulances and my mail van not viable. I intend to paint it black, I just want to know cause if not... well, why bother investing the time in it if not? (it was crashed, so 10% parts but that engine quality was 70... so, pretty good, plus low vehicle spawns alongside a long term goal of repairing it and decorating it, you know?)

@lordzidahn While some people may not like all the extra work this would seem to take, some people may find that level of granularity to build immersion and give a sense of accomplishment. The comments about friends not being able to see the colors and it reverts back to its original color seem to be because:

this mod sucks. its hella inconvenient and just pure extra work. i installed this mod thinking, you get a paint brush, and a paint bucket and paint your car but nooooo. you need like 10 million different things. you need safety goggles, a mask. once you have this you have to remove all windows from the vehicle, THEN you have to sand the vehicle. then you need primer to PRIME the vehicle. then you need paint canisters and a spray paint gun. ONLY THEN can you paint the damn car. on top of this your friends cant see the color you painted the car and sometimes if you leave and rejoin the car reverts back to its orgignal color. dont recommend this mod at all.

Like the last two comments said, the paint reverts back to the original when you close and open the game. Me and my friend painted our vanilla cars on our multiplayer server, and after we re-started the game the cars reverted to their original paint. Help plz :( I really like this mod

Getting same behavior as last comment, also if you hotwire a car after painting, it reverts back to the original color.

Did some proper testing on this and yes sadly enough Multiplayer does not work properly.
I was able to sand, prime and paint a Chevalier D6, but after a little bit the car reverted back to it's original colour.
