Some minor suggestions for improvements to make the character more accurate to his source material:

Holding Left + Right in Smash Land causes Mario to moonwalk in place, while Rivals causes the sprite to spas out.

Fireballs appear to come out slower in Smash Land than the Rivals version.

Downtilt deals 5% in Smash Land, while the Rivals counterpart deals 7%

Downtilt only does two forward-facing kicks and one back-facing kick in Smash Land, while the Rivals version comes with two back-facing kicks.

Dair can be moved on the ground, and allows you to go higher if you mash attack in Smash Land, while Rivals does neither.

Bair only does the back-hit animation once in Smash Land, while Rivals does it twice, with the second time not even coming with a hitbox.

But overall, it's still decently accurate to the source material.
