I did not test the Axe on the Last Stand map. I tried it on Dead Center 'single player' which causes the weird 3rd strike missing animation. But using the Axe under multiplayer 'official dedicated' server the Axe works perfect. My best guess is under multiplayer there is no 3rd strike so there is no problem.

Tried both my shovel and axe on last stand and didn't get any weird anim ?

Not sure if I have the terms right, but it seems the 3rd strike animation for the Axe version only is broken. You here the strike but no animation is displayed. Hope this helps
