The arc is reaching targets and doing damage just fine for me. However, the arc is not being drawn properly, or perhaps not at all. I hear 'bzzt' sounds if the sound is in arcade mode, and hostile fighters flying around me take damage.

That said, this weapon really isn't suitable for anything resembling focused fire or rapidly taking down fighters or missiles. It is, however, excellent as a constant thorn in the side of enemies approaching your craft: blocks all over their vessel take small amounts of damage relentlessly so long as they're in range.

Honestly, if I were to keep the damage to size scaling the same, a 1x1 coil would only have like 111 dps. I just dont think its viable.

Greetings to you! I don't know if you are opened to suggestions or have plans for one of these...but a direct-fire one version of this for small grid in say 1X1X3 or smaller would be absolutely ideal.
