I love this idea but it stopped working? Any idea why that my be?

Can you tell me more about the mod's work? Is it possible to port a game immediately after its release on one platform to another?

This mod randomly stopped working. I started a new game and played through the entire story but never got the ability to make ports, despite being able to the first playthrough

has the weird thing involving ported games being considered seperate fixed?

I think this is a great idea, but I would just ask does the porting take into consideration the positives and negatives of the platform you are porting it to?

Like if I am trying to port a mature game from the PC to the TES and it still gets a similar rating then I would agree that this is rather abusive, but if a mature game doesn't get the same response then I think it's working like it should.

Good mod but really easy to abuse. Porting the same game more than once should lower it's score so it can't just be abused for money.

Do you always get horrible scores when porting games?

A mod that lets you remake/remaster games would be awesome

I wish I could reply to comments because more often than not that ends up being a better way to respond to people.

To address not being able to port games, so far I haven't been given anyway to reproduce but all I can say for now is to read the description because it unlocks after game sequels are, if you already have then please let me know and I'll look into it (preferably if you told me the; office stage, whether or not you have game sequels unlocked, and what year you're at that would help a lot!)

TJack, Ghoki, porting your game is basically releasing the same game twice, if you did that by hand, you would get a similar result. :D Hope you get it now. It is technically a glitch, I would say, because porting a game should just re-sell it, for like half the amount as normal. However, it is glad to see somebody still making mods.

@Ghoki well yeah mate, would you say that if Pong was added today to Steam it would get Steam awards ? ;)

@Tammun The score of the port must've been abysmally small compared to modern standards. This mod is great for when you want to port a modern game to additional consoles, but if you're gonna 'port' such an old game, you might as well just 'remake' it via a sequel or new game to get a realistic score.

How does the porting effect the rating in practice, because I had a 10 game, and ported it to a modern console, and it was just all ones and twos, I had made the original game in the garage, and the port had a full team.

Porting uses the built-in system so it's subject to the console, porting games doesn't always work on every console so be careful about where and what you port to.

You should be able to edit the port a bit to add remastering and remaking.

I have the mod enabled but the research option doesn't show up, even after a new game and past year 10, am I doing something wrong?

Great idea, but I think there's a bit TOO much randomness in how a port compares to the original. I had a game that was 9.25, so I ported it to a newer system that was well-suited to genre and audience and ended up with a 4.25. I also had another game that was a 7 initially and the port ended up a 9. Unsurprisingly, the port for one system out-sold the original on 3 systems.

Does the new system affect rating? For example, if I port a strategy game to a system with a --- on strategy, does that affect the port rating? The results are so random that it's hard to tell.

I already have sequels but the Porting option doesnt show up! Any help?

I've updated the description - but to answer your question - you can simply head over to the research prompt and go down to Game Design and IF you already have sequels you should also see game porting. Sequels are unlocked after year 8 month 6 so if you're past that point in the game should be able to use it!
