The "1" key switches to HESH...the "3" key switches to the ranging gun...the "4" key switches to the coaxial...but the "2" key does not switch to APDS. I can't switch to APDS at all with any combination of keys or mouse inputs.

The 12.7mm ranging machine gun was a modified .50 caliber M2 Browning meant to help aim the 120mm cannon by firing tracer/explosive marking bullets that matches the trajectory of 120mm cannon rounds. The idea was that if a bullet fired from the ranging gun is on target, then the main gun itself would be on-target.

Ranging guns are not unique to the Chieftain, though it was mainly used by recoilless rifles such as the M40, WOBAT, and the SMAW.

They were replaced in later models by laser rangefinders.
