For you who don't know, the texture of the face is based off a real burn victim. But the remaining eye of the man is edited out. This is pretty uncommon of game devs using real gore images for textures for their game. Like how a mortal kombat 11 dev had PTSD from witnessing a lot of gore imagery. I think valve tried to hide that fact that they used a real corpse for reference. They tried to hide it, until it was too late.
