1) Yes that makes sense.
2) I don’t remember of any vanilla trait about the relation to aliens (through I know of two modded ones), and also that belief is pure conspiracy theory as you surely know, so better not base sandstone upon such superstitions.

sandstone being relatively soft and easier to carve could maybe equate to a learning speed bonus as they can adapt well?
just throwing out some ideas, I love it so far!
