Great level, had a lot of fun!

That's not this map's fault. Challenge Roads makes the game stutter and drop frames like crazy when you have been on the Challenge Road for over half an hour.

If you want to enjoy this time rift as intended, then download it and play it on its own.

The idea of sliding and jumping is good.
But everything else is terrible
Optimization is complete crap, after playing the game FPS drops to 25-30 and flights with an ice cap behave differently
And a separate dislike for the segments where you need to change the ice cap to a ghost hat, it’s awful, really

Is not new tech. The devs added it all the way back in the Seal the Deal update (A Hat in Time's first DLC).

And again this level was chosen for the Challenge Road, making it impossible to beat for ~95% of players x)
Great level, I'm sure some expert players are enjoying the new tech, but having this as a skill check for the Challenge Road is just unnecessarily cruel.

It's a really good level for people who want to speed run. But extremely poor one for the challenge road considering your average players aren't speed runners.

The tutorials and drawings in the boards explain it very clearly. Just groundpound on the slope and let go of it to retain all the speed. When you let go off on the slope determines your height and speed you will get, as explained by the animated drawing showcasing 3 different outcomes.

This was a mechanic purposely introduced in the Seal the Deal update to go fast and is not a glitch as most people imagine.

I'm stuck at the purple balloon that you have to launch off to get to a vertical wall really far off. I've only made contact with the wall 1 or 2 times and then I didn't have enough height to get over the top.

Can someone explain how to do this tech? Like what buttons do you press? I have no idea what I'm doing and this level makes you backtrack way too much to be able to experiment effectively.

Yep, test it on its own without the other Challenge Road maps and it didn't lag, ehich means this map just starts losing frames the more you play the game. And hey! As it turns out, the slopes mechanic WAS frame-rate dependent, since I was finally able to beat it now that it was running at more than 30 fps.

So my recommendation for everyone else. Just restart the game if you want to play this map on its own. As it's actually pretty fun and challenging.

I don't know if it was because I have to play on low settings, but my framerate kept getting worse and worse and WORSE with each passing time. And the problem is that when the game was skipping frames a lot, the slopes stopped working and I was bouncing on the slopes instead of sliding on them. So in a later section with the big slope and balloons I just couldn't finish the level because kept bouncing like 7 times on the same slope without ever sliding...

Never knew about this mechanic! Awesome level!

this mod kept me coming back to the challenge road because of how enjoyable it is (: thanks for making this fun tech tutorial

Hello everyone! I'm glad to hear you're all enjoying the level, but there are some frame rate issues at the end. I unfortunately do not have the files for the mod anymore, so I can't change it anymore. However, I'm not entirely sure that performance issues are an issue with the level. If you run into this, try putting "restartlevel" into console to see if reloading the level helps. Hopefully everything you've learned will make it a quick and easy time getting back to where you were! Sorry!

i couldn't get the main mechanic to work at all. i have no idea how you are supposed to launch out of ice hat. had to use ghost mode to finish.

cannot beat this level (probably because i play on steam deck lol), which is a shame because it looks so cool!

also, the slopes are incredibly janky and don't work half the time lol

our nations' leaders could learn a lot from this level... how to use technology for good, not evil.

I just came back to hat in time randomly for fun and ended up playing this level. It was a massive blast! I loved the trivia at the end to. Such a good level thank you for making it!

Incredibly well made level that made me nearly throw my controller in rage. Bravo, this is the first mod I've played in ages that actually felt challenging :)

Absolutely love this! After spending a while playing this fps starts to slowly tank from usual 144 to 25-30 for some reason, is this just me? It didn't seem to happen on the other current challenge road mods.

I really like this! I'm not huge on techy stuff, but I found the beginning so easy to understand and things were introduced super well so I was able to pick up the basics easily. The only thing I missed was what you have to do to amplify forward momentum so the first balloon gap was a rough one. Everything else was challenging, but fun as you try to apply the principles you learned at the beginning and I had a really good time! The biggest bummer was that by the time I got to the last part, the frame rate drop soft locked me from using the ice platform so I couldn't finish the very last jump nor the challenge road :(

What an amazing level, it was a ton of fun! :) Merry Christmas! It was plenty hard but not losing health made it an amazing level to learn.

Not a hardcore player. I play this game from time to time, only when a new event season is up since i've completed the vanilla part so i can say that this level on the winter challenge road really made me cry :'')

nice level, only had frustration on my own part (forgot to hold forward for like 30 attempts straight before remembering)

Very fun stage, loved the little tutorial animations.
The ending quiz was also a cute touch and I learned a few new things from it. (Hey at least I knew what H2O was, so not full failure hueh)

If you get stuck for more than 30 minutes on the last jump you need to restart all the Challenge road again.
After 30 minutes the games and frames bugs. Making it impossible to jump far.
What was an easy jump becomes impossible.

I CANT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MAKE THE LAST JUMP, BEEN AT THIS SPOT FOR A GOOD HOUR, HELP!!

Update to my previous predicament; while it took 48 minutes to realize that I was well and truly softlocked on this level the first time, on my next Challenge Road attempt I collected this Time Piece in 13 minutes. Would've preferred to not get stuck, but I can't say I didn't learn anything.

Final Ice Hat platform broke on me and wouldn't activate if I slid down more than half of the ramp, meaning I'd either slide into the drink like a dunce or not get enough forward speed to reach the Time Piece. Meanwhile my frame rate was gradually getting lower and lower. Now I have to start Challenge Road over from the beginning.

Who was the human being in this world who thought it would be a good idea to add this map to the challenge road, I went for the achievement of completing a challenge road and I simply spent 3 hours on that map, now I learned a technique that I will probably never use but until which is fun. the map is very good, thank you jolly girl, really after a while I learned how to overcome each challenge and obstacle, but I can still feel the pain of the next casual player who goes on the challenge road...

Overall, it was very enjoyable and appreciably tricky at times. The tutorial visuals were simple yet very elegantly conveyed the necessary steps to perform the ice slide properly. It is very apparent that a lot of care and thought was put into this level. I really enjoyed this level and will play it again sometime, great job!

wow this mod is absolutely amazing. One of my favorite time rift maps ever. There should definitely be a lot more hat in time kaizo.

This is a really good level. It definitely taught me a little more about ice hat shenanigans. The pictures were nice, although I wish there was a little text to go along with them. For example, the ice hat pad momentum thing didn't make sense to me until playing the hard part of level. The only jump I don't like is the relatively blind balloon jump at the second balloon for the second to last checkpoint. As to whether this level is too hard, it isn't that hard. I think the hardest part is understanding how to use the ice hat on slopes, and once you get it, it's not too bad to get used to the ice hat stuff. Farewell is harder than this, because for that level you not only have to learn how to do an sdj (which is close to frame perfect), but the platforming is a little tougher

The music was nice, and so were the visuals.
The actual platforming, on the other hand, was nearly half an hour of purest suffering.
"A little difficult" is a massive understatement.

Never really got to know / use the ice hat mechanic and your level did a good job at teaching it!

btw are there more than 2 rift tokens? Or did I find everything? (Only tell me if there are more or if I got everything, so I can try to find them myself :)
