I am not sure which of my mods caused the issue, but I think I was mistaken that it was yours. I believe you that it wasn't your mod; sorry about that.

Did you check/uncheck any other mods as well? This mod is very lightweight, and doesn't affect the save file. I checked to make sure, but I couldn't reproduce your problem. I was able to start a game with this mod and then reload it without, and there were no errors.

I unchecked it from my mods list when I went to open my most recent saved game because I wanted the old sounds back. It caused me to get a windows error message, however, and now even though I reenabled it I still get this error message when I try to play! Could you please help me fix this?

Okay I eventually got it working. Thanks for the help.

I could do that, but there's really nothing to the project other than what you already know. Just importing the wav files, setting their VFS property and the global Reload Audio setting should be all you need.

Thank you. I'll see if I can get it to work. I don't suppose you would be willing to upload your modbuddy project file, would you?

It's actually very easy, and does not even require XML (but it's been a while, and I might be missing some steps).

(Assuming you know the basics of setting up a project in ModBuddy) Import your sound file to the project, rename it after the sound file you want to replace (e.g. "BuildCity.wav"), then set its "Import into VFS" property (to the right) to "True". I can't remember if the following step is important, but I checked "Reload Audio System" in the project properties. Your new file will now overwrite the existing one.

A large list of sound effects you can replace is located in "Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Sounds\XML\AudioDefines.xml" (in the <Filename> tags). I don't know of a way to listen to them, so you might to guess and try things out.

Now that I've used this for a while it really grew on me. Thanks for making it.

Go to Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Touhou - Sound Effects (v 1) and remove the ones you don't like. They will revert to their default sounds ingame. It's impossible to predict what sounds everyone likes though, so turning it into smaller mods would quickly become bulky.

Can this be made into smaller mods, I don't like ALL the sounds...

oh well, I see, I wish I could offer help, but I have less a clue then you do or I'd offer.
I'm sure you will improve, if you keep at it. Those words almost always come true. Thanks for what you've done so far.

Yeah I might add a couple extra in the future. I wanted to keep it simple for now, since changing certain sound effects can be really disorienting. I tried changing the "enemy nearby" and "barbarian camp found" sound effects for example, but ended up with no clue what was going on.
