The tooltip for the Sky Cohort looks really weird in the screenshot. First, the text says magic resistance but the icon shows missile resistance. Second, the vigour loss reduction should be negative, instead of positive, no? At least that's how I see it on other lords with similar effects (Durthu for example).

@FriskyCheeks I think the only way is to replace his blade of the skies with a copy that doesn't use the deactivation context. A bit of a pain in the ass, but possible.
