i'm embarrassed to admit, but i'm stuck on the tutorial, downloaded the db files and updated case files, but i'm on a loss on what to do next

I am at a loss with JL-2 and ET-5. I unlocked Ingrid's phone and G comes back saying they have no idea who it is. I have literally spent an hour downloading files and getting nowhere. Any suggestions?

I'm stuck at case HS-4 :( I downloaded all the non-junk emails from the dlabs server from the victims account, uploaded them to forensics - and nothing happens

Like @NowThisJustine, I'm stuck in case SC-9 for the same reason: lacking the SMTP hacking tool, I'm unable to hack into Pharmacore Employee Mail . :(
I can't remember wether I had that tool before or not (I played many extensions and can no longer tell them all apart).

very weird bug! Could be a theme issue. You should have the themechanger program by default, and there are some themes you could download throughout the extension. Though, it's likely you missed them. In which case, you can connect to the SOOOPER SEKRIT CHEAT NODE (don't tell anybody) at 666.666.666.666 to download some themes to switch to. Should get rid of that overlay issue.

Very fun extension! One problem, I exited the game after solving the case with Ingrid and her husband as murderers and upon reopening it the overlay that shows the convicted suspects is still there. I can access everything, but can barely read any of it cause the overlay is in the way. Any way to get rid of it? Or do I have to redownload the whole thing? Earlier on the game also crashed due to an unhandled exception when downloading the router .dll file in the same level. Restarting the game there worked fine. I'll likely just be redownloading this one later and start from scratch because I can't think of any way to solve this issue.

Very fun extension, though I've hit a brick wall near what I think is the end and not sure if it's the end or if there is further to go. I'm on email "The Truth Revealed" and going through the single bit of evidence it's now asking me to upload the "scrambler algorithm' to the forensic analyzer but I cannot find it anywhere and there are no new nodes to check. Is this the end of the game or am I missing something ?

As much as I am enjoying this a lot, there are a lot of places where to progress you need to open a file in a specific location. I was stuck for ~10 minutes after finding the case file on Yu's PC before I realised I had to decrypt it on his desktop whilst i had just downloaded it and decrypted the copy.

I can't claim to know why but the tutorial definitely doesn't work if you unlock all the phones and then download the message logs; for some reason the guy in the relationship doesn't get his suspect file updated to reflect it if you unlock all the phones first, but does if you unlock the phones and download the logs one at a time.

Sorry for the delay, my computer broke and it took me some time to fix it. Answering your question, no, I stay on the device until the download finishes and the case files don't update. But something interesting happened when I closed and opened the game: the case files updated again. I downloaded Carl's message logs again, closed and opened the game but nothing happened. I suppose it really has something to do with Hacknet.

Is it possible you're switching to another phone before a file is fully downloaded? The system's a bit finnicky because of Hacknet's limitations, so it'll only work if you stay on the phone until the file is downloaded and the update happens.

Hmm, that's weird. Since it's so early into the extension, try restarting and see if that changes anything, could be something didn't load properly.

I downloaded Laura's message app logs, the case files updated and now I'm stuck.

I'm stuck on the tutorial. I've pretty much downloaded everything here and nothing happens.

Should be the same way you got access to Mashun's laptop from the previous mission.

I can see that I now got stuck in the same place in the second case as many others, but there isn't any information on how to proceed in the comments.

I already uploaded the et-5 case file and got an email about it. I uploaded all non-junk mails from the 3 NYPD mail accounts, as well as all files on Kara's laptop, to the Forensic Analyzer, but that didn't give me any more information, so I have no idea how I'm supposed to get the IP for Ingrid's computer or ePhone.

Never even considered that, and I didn't consider the mail with the spreadsheet attachment sent from home to be particularly important, so I just uploaded all the mails to the Forensics server. . But I finished it, and now I'm on case JL-2

That's not everything. Remember, the victim is not the only person who could have an email account on that server. Think about how one of the suspects is related to the victim and how you could use one of his emails to progress further.

Yup, I've uploaded all four emails from the DLabs account to the Forensics server, and I didn't get anyhting out of them. The last one can't be uploaded due to formatting, so that's why I've been thinking I need to gain access to the JLabs account and upload the emails from there to the Forensics server.

If you mean Capital Savings Bank, then yeah I already uploaded the two relevant accounts, and got an email that I can't dig deeper into that thread. So I only have the JMail account left to check, and if I don't need to, then I have no idea where to go next, because I'm still getting Mission Incomplete. :(

Oh I misread. Yeah you don't need to hack into the jmail. Read the emails, you might find a link in there.

I already did, but I don't see what you mean.
The JMail server requires 4 ports to PortHack. One of those ports is an SMTP port, for which I don't have a tool. So I can't hack it.

None of the tools I have, PortHack, ForkBomb, SSHCrack, FTPSpring, WebServerWorm and SSLTrojan can crack an SMTP port

You don't need the SMTP tool. Look through your program list more closely and the amount of ports required to crack the server :)

I'm probably missing something obvious, but I'm stuck on the first real case, HS-4. I can't upload email headers from the JMail account because I don't have an SMTP tool, and the DLabs account didn't give me anymore info.

Just the email files themselves from the mail server.

When it says upload email headers to the forensics analyzer, what are you supposed to upload, I tried everything I can think of and made no progress?

After decyphering it, you should have gotten a notification to proceed. Did you decypher it in your own node? Because of an oversight it only works if you decypher it directly on his machine.

Make sure you're spelling things right, the login details do work. It's possible you're also adding the @nypd.gov to the username, in which case you don't need to add that.

feeling kinda dumb but struggling with the koliver laptop? I uploaded the mail file to the analyzer and nothing happened. don't quite know how to progress without it.
