Are these too OP? I mean, one type of car for everything with make everything else worthless. Similar to how you can use universal cargo trucks for everything so you don't bother with other types.

This is amazing since there is no way to swap the car on a line automatically. Would you be able to update this with this new cargo mod? some of the cargo are not included such as fiber, papers, etc. Would you be able to just make it into a "All cargo"?

I've thought many times about expanding on it. Coloured/textured box cars. Completely new model to remove the stakes - flatcar instead...

id be interested if the idea can be expanded upon. What if there were different textures for different rail cars, like a boxcar? maybe perhaps an american variant. or the cars themselves can be more heavier than vanilla version for balancing reasons

I checked the original 1890 stake car wagon and it's release date is also 1900.
Perhaps it is simply a naming thing or a mistake from the original game?

If someone can point me to some official doco from TF2 devs, I'll be more than happy to change it to release in 1890.

First, I love this mod. It was one of the reasons I continued to play TPF1 rather then switch to TPF2. It just makes the game more enjoyable. I have moved on to TPF2 (thanks very much for the port), but found that the 1890 model does not show up until 1900. It seemed odd so I took a look at the LUA where I found a variable "metadata.availability.yearFrom = 1900" in the file :

variable in: ...\2113300296\res\models\model\vehicle\waggon\NafeysStakeCar_1890.mdl

I changed that to 1890, returned to my game and all was right with the world.
(I should add that I checked all the other 'yearFrom' dates which seemed correct.)

There should be 1850, 1890, 1950 and post 2000 versions...

Really appreciate this mod - so useful, especially late game. But, I wish there was more than just the 1850 and 1950 versions. They're a little slow and don't carry enough. Perhaps you could make a few more variants to come into the game at different periods, maybe every 20 years or so, with additional capacity and higher speeds? And perhaps late game versions with 4-bays and really large capacity? I've seen cars with 150x4 capacity and top speed near 200 MPH in the post-2000 era, but they're dedicated freight. A Nafey stake with that kind of hauling capacity would be outstanding.
I find the stakes less useful, for example, in the period between 1900 and 1950. The 1850 model isn't as useful when all the other trains are running at 60 MPH or more and carrying five or six times the weight, and until the 1950 model shows up, as the economics push toward more speed and capacity.

But where can I find that load order, I can't even find the folder of "Transport Fever 2" ..... I have the mod expanded industry but what is "Mail and Waste Add-on? .... Okay, after starting a new campaign with "Expanded Cargo Demands (Dynamic)" loaded BEFORE "Industry Expanded", I actually got IE to produce waste. The stake cars moves waste!

in the U.S.A. & CANADA their are called Trucks because i have family that works on the VIA & CP RAIL.

@Davidmoor668 that is a matter of culture as here those on trains are called train trucks or bogeys, and those on the road are called trucks.

@Shragan Would it possible to have another unlock in like 2050 or so that increases the top speed? I'd like my rail network to increase above 160 km/h at some point.

Most if not all of the locomotives can handle over 160, but non of the cargo wagons seem to be able to.

Which Trucks are u speeking about because The Wheels on Trains are called trucks and trucks are called rigs/semi I hope this help u VoshkaVonBadMeow. :-)
