Might be an unpopular opinion, but what about adding very slight glow that gets duller and duller with each step further into the abyss? I personally love glow on deployables and building items. Makes your base easier and nicer to traverse at night time. How do you feel about that? Would also be cool to see a sheet metal/armoured door version.
