i'm pretty sure the cut fallout 4 Chinese assault rifle is a ground up model as it has more details on its body and magazine compared to the fallout 3 one.

well there is a fully modeled but untextured chinese assault rifle in the game files. I assume there was going to be both assault rifle and a machine gun in the game, but for whatever reason they only kept the machine gun and named it assault rifle

Hmmm so it's called "Machine Gun" in the game files?
What the heck went wrong during development that they decided to call this water-cooled behemoth an "Assault Rifle"...?

No really, jokes apart, i'm really surprised by that
