@GodIstheMessiah When I say browser, I mean like internet explorer, opera, firefox, google chrome, etc. As for the folder, check the folder that this name entry command plugin was downloaded in.

@markyjoe1990 Thanks for the reply. I must be blind. I have no idea where to look for the folder. :/ It may sound dumb, but when you say browser, like this steam browser?
I see : Steam View Friends Games Help on the very top and then bellow in bigger letter: STORE LIBRARY COMMUNITY (MYProfileName).

I am totally new to this, never did any coding.
I read to refer to $commandreference.html, but how to I do that?

I created a map with 40 tiles for width and 40 tiles for length. And when I the Name Entry window appeared, it's not at center of the game but instead, it's on the top left

I have a question: Is it possible to format where the Name Entry window would appear? If I were going to go beyond a certain number of tiles for width and length, the window would no longer be centered

@soothsayer I don't remember, but you might want to check the SRPG Studio manual and its text control codes.

Also, you might want to go find my github, since I haven't updated my plugins on steam in ages.

I'm sorry if this has already been asked or something but... Is there a way to "call" a unit in a text? like "So his name is XXXXX"

@footyboy Before the name entry event, you need a "change screen state" event that sets it to default.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. When I try to test play the screen is black. I can click the keys but can't see anything.

Updated. The name entry plugin now permanently sets a unit's name even when you use pdb for text control codes. Hopefully there's no other problems.

So by default this name entry doesn't actually change the name of the selected unit just how it looks in game not the pdb name so you can't see it in dialogue. There is a fix but you will need to dig through the jp srpg wiki to find the plugin.

@shiny unfortunately not, because the SRPG Studio API doesn't have a setName function for most objects.

Is it possible for the script to target other data types than units, for example item names?

@markyjoe1990 Ah, that's understandable. I'm a new user myself, I just got SRPG Studio on a sale after a year of not being able to afford it and I'm still learning how it works.

Anyway, thank you for the information, I'll now go searching through the SRPG Studio manual to try find it.

Right now, it only changes the selected unit's name. Originally, the name you entered got stored as a global parameter of your choice, but I decided against it because that would scare away less experienced users.

I believe you can call the unit's name with a control code explained in the SRPG Studio Manual.

Its a really great plugin but it brings up questions for me.
I was wondering if there are other uses for this? For example, are we able to recall the input and use the custom names in dialogue?

I can see some Awakening type Avatar characters appearing in some upcoming projects now.
