Paradox have improved the weather effects so it's not as sparse as before, but pleased to see people are still using this. I will have a look at updating again.

Unfortunately I can't find a way to turn the weather off at higher speeds.
@MrClem97, I just updated it to the latest version of HOI4.
The only change is the removal of some sounds. This ought to improve performance, please let me know.

To fix lag on 4-5 speeds, make it to weather effects turn off. This will fix lag as the effects are to sorta at that speed to mean anything. (if this is possible to add , i believe it would help gameplay flow better).

Yep, play at high speed or on a potato and you will get less FPS :)
The mod is meant for people who play at lower speed where they can take the weather into account

Hey all. If you normally play speed 4 or 5 then the rain, storms etc will only last a second or two so there's no point improving the visuals at the expense of lag.
If you normally play at 1 (like I do) or 2 or 3 during buildup, then it's definitely worth installing if your machine can handle it. You'll time your attacks differently, and understand the effects on your troops and ships better.
Update with many more regions (most of the contested coastal waters) releasing soon and I'll add this disclaimer to the mod description.

Even though it does lag, the mod looks REALLY beautiful, and I can see a lot of potential in it. Keep up the good work!

Maybe release a 50% version for FPS

Hey, I missed the slow-game lag thing cause I always play speed 3 or below (usually speed 1 when at war).
Will try to ascertain the cause this week. I have no idea whether it can be improved or not... but will definitely try.

yes, this mod really slows down the game to a creepy slow speed. Love tho looks, but try to figure out what is causing this tremendous lag

Have to say that this is beautiful stuff. I have compatibility issues because so many mods mess with strategic regions now, but this is really pretty work.

Hey LeGullman thanks for the comments. I've made really huge improvements to performance the last 2 days, to the point that my 1070 doesn't lag at all any more. Will definitely try to keep improving in this area.

Adding the enormous regions of Siberia caused unacceptable performance (I had tested it but not in winter - big mistake!!!). Have reverted for now and done some urgent work on the effects. Will upload a new version tonight with much better performance.

Kaiserreich changes the strategic regions, for example Austria has its own region instead of being part of the Alpine Region in vanilla. The game wouldn't crash but the weather you'd see would not match the actual weather your soldiers were experiencing.

Hmm, does it change the weather textures already? Why exactly is it not compatible?

I'm aware the effects look repetitive when you're zoomed out over large regions such as Russia. I'm confident that clouds can be used to obscure it. Working on it but the effects files aren't properly documented so it will take a while!

Should do if it's just a texture change. So long as the outline of the regions isn't changed

Will be adding some more states later so we should cover most of Eurasia. Next week will be the Chinese / Japanese theatre.

Does this work with mods that change the map texture?

@Sungross unfortunately you can't get achievements. Suspect it's because the sphere points are changed in the strategic regions.
