Vanilla ones or another mod's?
If vanilla emotes, did you try with no other mods present?
Which emotes exactly did you try and how exactly do they break?

You should still send the full log when you get the error again as there might be better hints earlier in the log as to what causes it.
But if it is truly random you should try re-downloading the game (could try validate first but it's not as concrete as a full on replace)

Honestly thinking this was a false alarm now to be honest; the game loaded perfectly after removing the mod, which lead me to believe it was this... but then all evening I've been having random failures during loading different saves, even fresh ones with a lot fewer mods!

Sorry to have bothered you with it, Digi... glad it wasn't this! :)

I don't think that's caused by this mod, it's a render device error... it could be a side effect error from a different error above that one.
Can you load the game and try the world with my mod and that way you get a relatively small log, which you can also zip to get it even smaller :P

Unfortunately I was only able to paste some of it due to Pastebin limits.

Hey Digi,
Since the update this morning, none of my saves will load unless I remove the mod.
Not sure if this is on your end or if one of the other mods isn't playing nice with it,
but thought I should give you a heads-up regardless!

thats fair. yeh i have the mentioned mods. its not a big deal per say, just kinda defeats the purpose of the mod when it happens XD

Ah yes it is possible another mod is reverting it, if they block controls to show a fake GUI thing, rich HUD mods or AI enabled come to mind that might be doing that...

I might need to spam it blocked while holding a block I guess xD

KBM. and its not consistent, usually blocking painting but sometimes not. it DOES give the hud message but paints anyway. its possible one or more of my mods are partially reverting vanilla behaviour too. SP load order is top gets priority right? i was holding a large cargo container when it let me paint though idk if that would have any effect on the results. heck, it could even be a minor desync between the client and local "server". either way i wasn't creating a bug report but more an FYI :)

Hm are you using gamepad maybe? I've not actually tested this with one.

Are you getting a "vanilla painting disabled" HUD message when you paint? If not it sounds like the script isn't working, in which case I'd like the SpaceEngineers.log from the last time you tried the mod (in %appdata%/SpaceEngineers and sort by date), you can link it here or DM it on steam or discord (Digi#9441)

so. interesting issue. it seems its "working" as in installed and detecting but not actually blocking paint attempts. i was able to paint without the paint tool. is there any sort of mechanic for it using the vanilla system when paint gun is in the inventory? single player "friends only" server btw (solo. no others on the "server")

Ok I've updated both concrete tool and paintgun to have their binds work even if this mod is installed :}

I'll have to change those mods to read the binded keys/buttons directly instead of reading the control state to workaround this mod, I've noted in down when you first mentioned it, I just dunno when I'll get to it xD

So there is no way to have this mod and the concrete tool play nice with each other? Since serialization is above my pay grade, I'm not sure if that part of your last comment is directed towards myself or Viper.

This works by blacklisting a control and I don't see it being serialized, would be pretty silly if it were.
It could leak outside the game, I don't remember if I tested for that, restart the game client and try again.
Also, vanilla painting requires the painter to own majority blocks on the grid.

Is it possible to disable the vanilla grid painting mechanic for use with the paint gun, but retain the ability to paint voxels with the concrete tool?

Thank you for this! This has been so necessary for so long in my worlds. I have often lost as much as an hours work on ships to painting errors and having to reload an older save
