Ah that's a shame. Been looking for a while for one that doesn't get wiped on server restart but so far no luck.. I even installed the dev kit myself to see if I could find a way to do it but without any prior experience that didn't really get me anywere either.

@Mandu Probably not. It's a slightly modified vanilla one and I dont recall doing anything like that.

Does this tripwire persist through server restarts? The vanilla version just disappears when you reboot the server, making them almost useless in a PvP setting.

Its possible, and fair enough if so. I had just gone on a modding spree and saw so many comments giving authors crap for no good reason, so assumed this was another one. But it would be nicer to believe that’s all their comment was really about :)

It is troll worthy of WC to do this with the trip wire.

@SivartStoneheart There is no need to be rude, if you think you can do better, make your own mod. Modders dont need pointless abuse from people who dont understand how much work goes into their projects that they kindly share with others.

In order to simplify things, its easier to just swap in this item to replace the official one, and so the wording remains the same - which is unfortunate. You being ignorant of the hows and whys is not anyone elses problem but your own.

Instead of a bear trap you could do something placeable like a torpor bear trap? snaps on them and adds a bit oh torpor xD or even torpor bolas it adds a small amount of torpor as it holds them? idk if any of that is possible or if you even wanna do it but ideas if you are willing to :p

No idea what to change with bear trap. Realistically, if you made a proper bear trap for dinos, they'd be stuck forever...obviously way too OP. Probably going to leave them alone.
Poison grenade, yeah.

@TheMystic6 Ya. Almost all explosives in the game are garbage for PVE. I'm sorry, but an IED would still wreck a bears face. They're definitely going in the mod.

Do you think you could make a mod that improves the damage of all the explosive thrown weapons on dinos? (maybe added to your grenade mod, just add .ini settings damage multipliers or something?) I love the idea of cluster grenades, but I can't even kill a dodo, and they cost way more than c4 which does 1500 damage (imo, c4 are the only thing besides the rocket launcher worth making in pve). Regular grenades are much cheaper but it still takes 4 to kill a level 35 scorpion. The IEDs I thought would be fun, but for the cost, I should at least be able to kill a titanoboa with one in a cave. Obviously up to you, and probably not for a while, I get it.

Why use a silencer when you can run away? Well.. it adds options, choices to the game. Mods are all about adding more choices. I, for one, have always wanted the silencer to do something in PVE, didn't care what it was. If there was a way to make it so the first few shots didn't register your position to the dino and they just do a road or run away or something then good. If it just makes it so they do what you mentioned then good.

Yeah, the lance I feel like would be fine if we could just use it as a sword that does more damage when you're moving, and the silencer I thought would be cool if dinos would just run in a random direction instead of coming at you when being shot (use a fear mechanic or something??). But yeah, still pretty useless most of the time. But the poison grenade imo should definitely work on dinos, and I never understood why it didn't. Even if it works like the vanilla narcotic trap where you can't tame things with it.. but being totally useless on dinos?? just why??

Some items will just be useless, no getting around that, handcuffs being one of them.

The silencer could have some use(like it lowers your aggro range or something). The lance could do a huge amount of torpor, since it's crazy risky to ride around with, pointing it at dinosaurs.

For the most part, even if I made them working like that, it's crazy niche and still almost useless. Why lance something in the face, when you could just tranq it? Why use a silencer, when you can run away/fly?

They're on the possibility list, either way.

Thank you so much! I'll keep my eyes open for it. Also, I understand if you don't want to but just as a suggestion to this whole theme of making items useful in PvE, some other items that are useless are the lance, the silencer, and the handcuffs. Not sure what you could do with these, but just an idea if you're up for it :) I'd do it myself but my internet is way too slow to download the devkit.

I'll be making a mod, hopefully, that makes grenades useful for pve. Notably poison and smoke grenades.

It'll be a separate mod from this one.

If you add poison grenade to this I will forever be in your debt. Been looking for a mod that does that since day 1 of ark.

OMG I have been wanting this! Thank You. Now if only you could remap the smoke, gas & flash (Z fruit) nades affect dinos! Then It would be complete.
